Globalization is a set of premises that makes global interactions more realistic and easier as compared to any other time in history. As communication, transport, and information technologies have continued to grow, globalization has become a global trend. The concept of globalization in the military sector is being investigated by a lot of people and services. However, as the district and government revenues continue to deplete over the years, and the political and social polarization increases, the government will find it hard to provide such services. The fact that more players will be able to circumvent the political process via the use of the ever-improving technology will present further problems. This will affect my personal freedom, because in presence of squabbles, I cannot move freely and the fear or of an expected attack may tense me. Besides, the lack of money to pay for services like security will mean that our salaries as professional security officers will be rather poor.

Secondly, it is also apparent that the nature of conflicts is also changing, but is also likely to continue doing so due to the increase in international powers and their diverging interests. As global consensus on issues such as human rights and democracy vary and move in opposite directions over time, the possibility of conflicts between the states will multiply . An example is an issue in Syria where the West continues to accuse the current regime of human rights abuses including the use of poison gas as a weapon, while Russia has even moved troops to the country to support the current regime. In a similar manner, staying in a warring nation will deprive my family of the right to satisfy basic needs like medical care and proper housing. On a positive side, as the issues related to human rights receive more weight, the problems of poor pay, harsh working conditions, and discrimination in the place of work will improve or end.

Thirdly, the change of the nature of conflicts is also evidenced by the change in circumstances with rogue states and terrorists entering the fray. An example is the continuing threat of terror and its place in starting and escalating conflicts in the world . The US invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq come to mind . Moreover, this also concerns the spread of lethal disruptive technologies to the wrong parties, such as providing nuclear weapons to rogue states and terrorists . This will increase the chances of conflict initiation or escalation of already existing conflicts. Besides, it will affect my personal life in that I will not be free to move and stay in crowds due to the fear of an explosion. Finally, if my place of work is bombed, this will render me jobless for a period of time.

Fourthly, it also should be noted that the number of global actors continues to increase. In the past, decisions on a global level would only include states acting between themselves either through conflict or through the use of diplomacy. However, there is a growing list of non-state actors such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) . Consequently, such actors are able to influence the flow of conflicts, making them harder to govern. Thus, in future, the nation-state will continue to play a more limited role in the global conflicts, as globalization will ensure that other actors can overstep the state in the management and the governing of global conflicts . In return, this increased the possibility of conflicts’ occurrence, and reduced the chances of their solution. This will affect my personal life in that the increased number of actors rules and instructions, especially those regarding the environment, will be unclear, which may cause a lot confusion regarding what practices to uphold and what not to.

This confusion and conflict may lead to the closure of international NGOs, thus rendering me jobless if I was working for such organization. Globalization has ensured that managing of military operations via governing and changing the nature of conflict is only going to complicate for the nation-state. First, the state will have to face people with their increased expectations of security and prosperity. Secondly, the interests of major global powers continue to diverge. Thirdly, the way of managing conflicts is also going to be more complicated due to the change in circumstances associated with terrorism, and rogue states playing a more prominent role in global conflict. Fourthly, the increase in the number of global actors, such as NGOs, IGOs, and activation of global multinationals with their own global interests will also make it harder to manage the conflicts. As a result, I will be affected personally in a way that I will not be free to move, and I will lack basic needs, like proper sanitation and shelter. These trends will influence my profession as I might lose my job, or contrariwise, my working conditions may improve once human rights win over tyranny.
